How do I get to Blackboard?
Open your web browser and ensure that you are connected to the Internet. In your address bar, browse to the following Web address: http://blackboard2.martincc.edu

What is my username and password?
Username:  Your username will be your first name followed by a period followed by your last name (example: John Doe would be john.doe)

Password:  Your initials + birth month + birth day (ex: jpd0115).
Please do not share your password with anyone.

When can I enter my online class?
On the first day of the semester, your Blackboard account will be created and you will have access to your Blackboard-enabled classes. This is usually completed by 5:00 PM of the first day of classes.

If you register late, then it will be the following day before you can access your class(es).

How do I enter my online class?
After you enter your username and password and click the Login button, you will see your Welcome screen. Your Blackboard-enabled classes will be located in the upper-right portion of your window. To enter a class, point to one of the classes listed and click the left mouse button. NOTE: All students in online classes are required to enter each online class during the first 10% of a class. Failure to enter each online class during the 10% period could result in your instructor removing you from the class. If you feel you have been removed from a class for this reason, please email or call your instructor.

What can I expect from an online class?
Your instructor will communicate with you by way of announcements posted in Blackboard. Many instructors will also use email for communication.

You should login into your Blackboard classes and your email account two or three times per work or as instructed by your instructor.

As with any type of class, there will be deadlines for assignments and homework. This work will need to be sent to your instructor by email or through the "Digital Drop Box," a feature of Blackboard. You should submit all work by the deadline. Failure to submit work on time may result in a grade of 0 for the assignment or whatever penalty the instructor has deemed appropriate.

How will I communicate with my instructor and classmates?
After you have logged into Blackboard and entered your class, you can click the "Communication" button on the left side of your window. The next window contains several tools you can use to communicate with your instructor as well as your classmates.

Here, you can select "Discussion Board" to post discussions for your instructor or your classmates. If you select "Send Email," you can select "All Instructor Users" to send email to your instructor. You can select "All Users" to send an email to everyone in the class as well as the instructor. Finally, you can select "Select Users" to choose to whom you would like to send an email.

In addition, you can also the "Staff Information" option for your instructor's phone number. Some instructors will also post office hours to indicate the best time to contact them.

How do I drop an online class?
Online students must email their instructor to drop a class. The email should have a subject line of "Drop Class" and the body of the email must contain your full name and your reason(s) for dropping the class. Your instructor will email you back with his or her permission to drop the class. You will need to print this email and attach it to your drop form. Your completed drop form should then be given to Student Services.

What can I do if I am having problems?
If you are having problems with an assignment, homework, or a class requirement, email or call your instructor. If you are having problems logging in, please refer to the 'Login Help' section by clicking here or directly from the www.martincc.edu. main page.
